With increasing social media usage and social pressures, our students lie somewhere between focused and frenzied. More distractions are taking our students' minds away from the classroom, creating shorter attention spans, and a declining motivation to learn. From a young age, they are caught up in the fast-paced lives we wish to slow down.

So how can we teach our students to find a place of stillness in micro-managed schedules, digital stimulation, peer pressure, and cope with high demands for academic achievement? While many of us face the intensity of ensuring our students are receiving a well-rounded education, we can manage our expectations by staying within our students' "zone of proximal development" and foster a healthy learning environment.

Mindfulness and social-emotional learning (SEL) are a skill set which promote emotional wellbeing and the ability to cope with stress in an intense classroom setting to become resilient and thriving young adults.

This workshop will present research and teach the applications of mindfulness for school staff, faculty, parents, and children. During the 2-hour workshop you will learn:

-Research on the effectiveness of mindfulness and SEL for students
-Research on the effectiveness of mindfulness and SEL for teachers
-How to start a personal mindfulness practice
-Fun and engaging exercises you can practice with your students
-Modifiable curriculas and programs you can integrate into your school or classroom

Who is this workshop for?
Teachers, school counselors, parents, educational leaders, school administration, tutors and anyone who works with students of all ages

Those who sign up will receive a free online sample copy of a Social-Emotional Learning curriculum for grades Kindergarden-2nd. This can be used as a reference for integration.
