What will you learn?
In four workshops you will learn how to be a trainer for Democracy and Tolerance. As the first step, you will reflect upon your personal attitudes towards democracy and tolerance. You will experience the activities that you will be teaching firsthand as a student before acquiring the training skills on communication, group dynamic and conflict management to teach yourself. In the final phase, you will plan your own workshop, test it in your community and be coached on its success after its first implementation.
Upon successful completion of the program you will receive a certificate by the Center for Applied Policy Research (CAP) at the Ludwig-Maximilian-University in Munich.

What will you learn in the modules?
The ToT-program is divided in four modules. In the first module, you will get to know important concepts and activities concerning tolerance, democracy, identity and

difference. The course will involve your personal experiences and links will be provided between the contents and the processes happening within the group. The pedagogical approach as well as models for solving conflicts democratically will be introduced.
The second module will focus on gaining competences for running training workshops in the fields. Dealing with group dynamics and conflicts as well as balancing different needs of the participants will be discussed. You will get to know important facilitation models and reflect your role as a trainer. You will get the chance to train these competencies and get feedback on them.
The third module will prepare you to run workshops in your field of expertise. You will work on a concrete plan on how to integrate the contents of the course in your work. You will facilitate important activities within the course group and get feedback on that. Concepts and theoretical backgrounds will enrich your understanding of doing training on democracy and tolerance.
After the third module you will run a workshop in your field and document your experience in a reflection sheet which will prepare you for the fourth module.
In the final fourth module, you will reflect on you own teaching experience - highlights and difficult situations - as well as the experience of your peers. You will get coaching on your role as a trainer in the field and understand more about the concepts of learning and bringing about attitudinal and systemic change.

Who can apply?
If you are a young activist in the field of civic education between 20 and 40 years from Egypt or Tunisia, we encourage you to apply for the program. You need to be motivated to plan your own workshops and work with groups which you will be teaching. You should be in a position to disseminate your acquired knowledge to others.
