Who we are:
The Tahrir lounge team was the first group of young talented energetic Egyptians working under the cultural agreement of the Goethe institute Cairo within the Transformation partnership projects funded by the German foreign ministry dedicated to support the democratic transformation of Egypt after the revolution established in April 2011.
The project vision
Our vision is a strong and tolerant community capable of taking appropriate decisions using knowledge and critical thinking. Beside being positively capable of generating creative energies on political, social and economical levels.
Our Message:
Proceeding from our deep faith in the values of freedom, knowledge and critical thinking and generating positive energy in our Egyptian community, the project adapt ideas and serious youth initiatives to serve and to develop all groups in the society, without discrimination toward any gender or religion or political affiliation. Since tolerance is one of the most important values, all the project activities reinforce mutual respect mythology between all community different groups.
The project mission and duties:
• Design programs to enable the youth to know their rights and duties, and generate their positive energy in the democratic change.
• Spreading awareness on all the political, social, health and environmental levels using civic education methodology in the project activities from seminars to journalism and human rights workshops.
• We motivate individuals to demand their rights by organizing awareness campaigns like "I want my right!" and "Where are my things?" Campaigns, to introduce the political concepts and the importance of the participation in the political life.
• Provide citizens the proper expressing tools to practice their right of expression through courses to teach (Photography, Painting and Caricature) along with organizing Exhibition to publish their artistic works. Adding to that workshops about ( Blogging, Journalism, Writing short stories)
• Consolidating channels of communication between individuals and the government by activities like "Who are you?" seminars - to be introduced to the political parties- and "Know your constitution!" seminars for raising the issue of the constitution for serious discussion and participating in the planning process for a constitution which ensures the Egyptian society after the revolution.
About us:
Al-Tahrir Lounge is a platform for different political and social community movements - Standing at the same distance from all parties- as it is a focal point to convergence of views helping to link all the parties with strong networks to facilitate civic participation.
The project raises all political issues for discussion, and simplifies the information to be delivered to different community sectors; therefore, to create a state of social awareness.
Al-Tahrir Lounge seeks to spread political and social rights claiming mentality, and stresses on the importance of the affective political participation by forming workshops aimed to train the youth to constructive political interaction in the society. In addition, strengthen the idea of accepting the other opinion and respecting the others and considering the human rights to be the highest values.
The project also works on building an affective personality in each citizen, to make each individual the essence to fight corruption in all its forms, to build a better community taking advantage of all the human energy possible.
