Lovely experience, but quite formal. Just a great change, and the architecture and the building is spectacular. I really love the corridor leading to the bar full of old things and the different "salons" everywhere in the hotel. Its really an amazing place to be. Mind you its only for winter, and you should prepare the trip well with a guide and all, and the best thing is that the Winter Palace can arrange it all.

One of the most elegant hotels in Egypt, beautifully preserved from it's golden ages. By far the classiest and strictest hotel in the country, meaning that you can't enter the bar in jeans, most of the restaurants require a tie! This actually isn't harmful and doesn't annoy you as it's what you expect going to a place like this. The rooms are spacious and are well equipped, and the hotel is famous to house royals and celebrities from all over the world when in Luxor.

The pool is very nice although it would have been much nicer if it was overlooking the Nile, but as it's a very old building it's quite acceptable.

The extension was nasty, and looked like a socialist era building, but thank god it was demolished, and the new building will follow the same lines of the beloved Old Winter Palace
